On June 15 2025, the Spark Arena in Auckland was completely sold out for Wakin Chau’s “A Young Man’s Fantasy Journey” World Tour - New Zealand.
This marked his return to the New Zealand stage after 23 years, with thousands of fans coming together to witness this unforgettable Mandarin music extravaganza.
Although Spark Arena is a standard venue for Western concerts, for Auckland’s Chinese community of less than 200,000, gathering thousands of fans in person was nothing short of a miracle.
The atmosphere was electric from the very first song, with almost every track turning into a full-house sing-along. When classic hits like “Friends,” “Fickle Heart,” “Through Wind and Rain,” and “Joy and Sorrow” were performed, the audience’s energy soared, with applause and singing echoing continuously, transforming the arena into a giant KTV.
Wakin Chau performed for nearly two and a half hours straight, without breaks or costume changes, demonstrating his dedication and extraordinary stamina to accompany his fans. With his rich and moving voice and naturally humorous stage presence, he completely captivated the Auckland audience.
This performance not only reaffirmed his artistic prowess but also brought the New Zealand Chinese community a cultural feast that truly belonged to them.
